Yesterday I had a revelation backstage at Dannijo
Yesterday I had a revelation backstage at Dannijo with the geniuses at Sally Hershberger Downtown. Temporary dip-dye hair is possible - even on dark hair. I mean, hallelujah. Here’s the step by step:
The supplies:
Needless to say, you need spray-on color. The team used this. But the essential ingredient is one of the world’s great cult products - PSSSST dry shampoo.
The steps:
The dry shampoo provides a light-colored, somewhat adhesive canvas for the spray-on color, even on darker hair. Don some kind of a protective wrap, and apply liberally.
Finally, layers of color create an ombre effect. You have to be pretty heavy-handed in the color application but the result seemed fairly long-lasting (like, you can work it on a Friday night and it will be still be there at 3am).
While you’re at it, why not apply a layer of glitter?
The result:
Amazing ombre hair - no bleach necessary.
If you try this, let me know how it goes! As with any hair experiment, it pays to test it on a strand first, even though it’s just temporary color. Also, you might not want to wear a light-colored top…
You can see the Dannijo collection over on Holier than Now.
