But I hate makeup that tries too hard, so I love knocking a red lip off its high horse with a white tank.  With a grey hoodie.  With a jean jacket.

For years I owned one red lipstick, Laura Mercier’s Pompeii.  Much like its namesake this shade is profoundly GONE, discontinued forever amen, so I was extremely grateful when BITE Beauty heard my cry for a flattering red and sent over their good-enough-to-eat (literally, because you do, right?) Luminous Crème Lipstick in Apricot.

                

It feels like butter on your lips; quelle surprise, it’s full of organic fruit butters. The formula contains the antioxidant Resveratrol in a quantity equivalent to five glasses of red wine - which is great, because if I drank five glasses of red wine this party would be over.

The warm red shade is effortless-looking, and it has none of the drying, cakey business that I always stare at when it happens on other people (it’s true, sorry).
