Oscar Night Rituals

Oscar night is on Sunday. What are you guys doing? I’ll be sitting on the carpet playing with beauty products, with Rembrandt whitening stuff happening on my teeth and this glycolic peel on my face … What else is an awards show for?

Following please find my thoughts on this fine mix of Oscar-worthy primping goods, plus some tips if you actually have somewhere chic to be –

Rembrandt Deeply White + Peroxide Collection (Toothpaste $8; Mouthwash $8; Whitening Kit $23) - This is my go-to toothpaste, mouthwash and whitening kit.  I have a thing for peroxide and how it bubbles your mouth troubles away - and how it tastes.  You can read my complete review of the whitening kit here … the Oscars is a great way to pass 2 hours, lemme tell you.

AHA Brazilian Peel with Advanced Renewal Serum ($89) - A lot of amazing things in life seem scary at first.  Love?  Skydiving?  Syringes full of acid for your face?  I was so excited to try this because it’s a professional strength glycolic peel and I have no time to go to the derm anymore. Fear not, it stops working automatically and comes with a serum to apply afterwards.  It didn’t irritate me a bit and I saw real results, especially in reducing blackheads - so I’m an addict now. The set contains a month of applications and I cannot wait to do the next.

Remington Curling Wand ($25) - I learned awhile back that the secret to the beachy hair universe is a pointy, clipless curling iron. If that’s the look you’re going for, this is a great 25 bucks to spend.  Read my beachy wave tutorial and all will be revealed.

Khroma Beauty Lash Dash Faux Lashes ($10) - Kute.  These are pretty faux lashes that come with neutral shadows … I have a deep appreciation of the packaging design, though rarely an okkasion to wear anything so glamorous. (PS for a great false lash tutorial look here).

R.J. Graziano Star Attraction Large Stone Medallion Earrings ($50) - Do you know his stuff? Look around on the site - a lot of good baubles under $50 too. These, with a white t-shirt and jeans, obviously.

Bite Beauty Cinnamon Plumping Lip Oil ($22) - I love all things Bite Beauty, including this yummy gloss. I like to use a plumping gloss as prep for matte lipstick - leave it on and let it sort of fill in the cracks and create a plush surface, then blot it before applying lipstick.

Hollywood Fashion Tape ($9) - I use this on the most banal occasions, aka every day of my life, because I like a lower cut button down shirt (otherwise I look like a man, baby) but the lower button is always just a little bit TOO low!  So I put a little tape and close it exactly where I like … the best.

Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes ($12) - Support polar bears, not panda eyes, right? I travel a lot (it is not fancy) and I got sick of decanting face wash into a tiny bottle, so I’m all about wipes.  A trick? Wet them at the end, then wipe your face clean of the cleansing stuff if you prefer a more washed-face feel.

Thanks to the Glam Beauty Board for pimping my Oscar night.
