Do you guys know the Hourglass brand?  I remember when the palettes first came out at Sephora years ago - I just knew there was something different about their products, a quiet kind of luxury with a cult-ish edge.

A few nights ago I met the founder, Carisa Janes, who is really - and I’m not just saying this - that woman that you WANT to be if you work in the beauty industry: successful on her own terms, truly in love with the process behind product development and innovation, and not caught up in the rat race of it all – the company is based in Venice, CA but manages to have international distribution in some of the best doors in the world.  (Also, she is mad young).

Anywho, she just launched this amazing Opaque Rouge lip product.  It paints on like a gloss, but dries to a matte finish that lasts up to 14 hours. It’s very intense without the terrible feeling of those old longwear lipstains, and also without the bleed of a lipstick.

My favorite colors are Muse, Canvas and Icon (amazing true red).  My only hint would be to apply lip balm and let it sink in while you’re doing your makeup, then paint this on … you really want to have un-crackly lips when you do a matte look, and the formula locks in moisture so you might as well hydrate first.

Does this: Full coverage liquid lipstick with a “velvet matte” finish
Is this: Hourglass Opaque Rouge
