I had a mini heart attack the other day when I saw this new John Frieda lightening spray.  For some reason I assumed it meant that Sun-In was discontinued.  Thankfully, I was wrong!  It even has a new* look.

When I was in Cyprus recently, I reminisced by the poolside about my Best Hair Ever, which was a result of the following high-risk behavior process one summer in high school:

- Copious daily amounts of Sun-In
- Swimming, with Sun-In in hair, in a highly chlorinated pool
- Baking in 100 degree + sun until hair is dry
- Deep-conditioning from root to tip NIGHTLY with Garnier Fructis

The last step must be the only reason my hair didn’t fall out.  I returned home with white-blond hair just around the time Gwen Stefani made her appearance on the scene [I AM OLD].  Needless to say white blond hair was where it was at and I subsequently watched several of my classmates go bright orange in the pursuit.

The bottom line - in my non-professional, at-your-own-risk opinion- is that if you want to go super light blond (and you’re currently blond or dark blond), a long, slow process with good old Sun-In and lots of conditioning over the course of the summer is not a bad way to do it. Call it nostalgia, but Sun-In is in the top of my cult hair product list.

Does this: Slowly but surely lightens your hair while teleporting you to the 80’s
