So like I said recently, I moved up North and am currently surrounded by deep snow and old radiators. Though it is gloriously winter-chic around here, my skin is not. For the first time in a long time, I truly feel scales on my body (sorry) and it is not a good look (feel).
Although I’ve been trying to skip washes on the hair front, I really can’t not shower - even though that ritual is SO DRYING! Also, I take showers at night, and it is way gross to get into bed slathered in lotion. (For those of you normal people who take showers in the am, I can only imagine the horror of moisturized … tights).
Luckily I recently received both the high and low solution to my dilemma - in shower moisturizers!

The first I got my hands on is the cult classic Neutrogena Body Oil. I remember my mom using this, and the “light sesame formula” has a sort of genie in a bottle meets stir fry vibe, but the strange/great thing is that this is unfragranced. It works like a dream whether in the shower or when skin is dry, with a dry oil feel. It’s also fairly inexpensive for guilt-free slathering.
Next-ly, I upgraded to Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength Oil with Rose. This is the luxe option, and it’s not technically meant to be an in-shower oil, but the combination of frankincense, rose and rosemary in the steam of the shower is amazing. I used almost the whole bottle over the course of the week (ouch) but I also tested it on my face and it was seriously dreamy. Getting into bed with this hippy-spa scent was super chill.
And finally, I went back to the innovation that is Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion. It’s weird, I know, but I am a big fan of the classic Nivea moisturizer and I was really curious to see how this would work. It’s really hard not to use it like cleanser, and you have to remember to pat dry, but it is non-slippery, under $6, and provides 24 hour moisturization so what’s not to like?
And now for the essential question - was my shower a slippery disgusting mess? Not really - but it is a flat shower, not a bath, and I stayed near the drain. Needless to say, you can step out of the shower and use these with wet skin too.
