C'est Nécessaire
Not gonna lie this brand Nécessaire is HYPED. I really wondered why someone (and that someone is Nick Axelrod, also a force behind Into the Gloss) would even build a line of bodycare when there’s so much good, affordable stuff in the drugstore aisle for your bod. But I get it now.
The brand began with body care and sex care because - as it was for me - these products seemed like afterthought for many beauty brands, when in fact they cover exactly the ground you should be nurturing in addition or perhaps even before your face. And yes, it looks beautiful on your shelf(ie). But … the price is arguably justified, and here’s why:
The products are all clean by a high standard. The company is obsessed with sustainability - they use 85% post-consumer waste boxes and 100% recyclable paper with FSC (sustainable forestry) vendors. And the stuff is truly facial skincare for your body … for example the The Body Exfoliator. I’m personally an addict of body scrubbing but most formulas are literally a physical scrub in a wash off soap - a waste of money no matter how little money you’ve spent. This product contains physical scrubbies (charcoal and pumice) but ALSO contains proven gentle exfoliating ingredients you would normally find in a face product (glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids). Honestly, if you wanted to use it on your face sparingly, you could.
We all know that in winter your body can get dry, bumpy and just plain weird. This stuff works to gently renew and prevent this - and there is a CHOICE of fragrances (amazing), including Fragrance-Free, Sandalwood (yum) and Eucalyptus (zen).
It’s $30 for a 6.8 oz bottle. This is not cheap. It is not, by any stretch of life, nécessaire. But I’ll go ahead and cosign and will also say … I use it very sparingly when and where I need it … exactly as I would use a facial product, and if you think that way, it’s a bit more palatable of an investment ; )
