re:cover
I’m actually sad to be writing this post because it means my jar of this insanely amazing balm is almost out. I’m not gonna lie, it is not cheap, but I know I have to buy it again because it’s truly special and I’m very picky about moisturizers. This stuff, to me, is a La Mer-level, cult-worthy story.
Also, if you’ve heard about the “slugging” trend (what a gross name) of slathering Vaseline over your skincare at night to seal it in, I would highly recommend NOT doing that but instead doing this, for reasons that will become evident.
RecoveryX was created by a University of Cambridge doctor with the goal of aiding healing, for example after laser treatment. Healing requires MOISTURE and OXYGEN, and though things like vaseline can feel super smoothing, they don’t allow for those conditions. Using silica, a natural ingredient that has been used to promote the body’s healing cycle for decades, Dermafacs created a formula that constantly attracts moisture while allowing oxygen flow.
After being tested with medical professionals, it became clear that RecoverX was drastically speeding up recovery time and helping to heal skin conditions within weeks, including scars, stretch marks, and scars from issues like eczema and psoriasis.
And here’s the thing - the formula REALLY feels and acts differently than a normal moisturizer or balm. It feels sort of like vaseline, but more tacky/sticky (not in a gross way, just more adhesive to your skin). It’s super soothing and melts into your skin, and I can still feel it working the next morning.
The reason I think it’s the best moisturizer for slugging is that your skin NEEDS to breathe at night. You can’t “lock in” skincare and lock out moisture and humidity … you’re just undoing any good your expensive serums etc. are doing for your skin.
The key ingredient creates a magnet to draw moisture from the air into damaged skin. It’s proven to help reduce redness and swelling, and to support the recovery of laser treated skin within 7 days or up to 30% quicker than normal recovery time. (!!)
It’s a semi-translucent and thick formula, and it has pretty much no odor, which is a bonus. I can’t emphasize enough that if you have dry skin, skin conditions (including healing acne or my favorite personal condition perioral dermatitis), this is very much worth a try because it is so different and so effective. It also doesn’t waste any time with filler ingredients and fancy stuff that doesn’t really do anything …
