dropping the balm

Every 3.1 seconds the mega-cult Banila Co Clean it Zero cleansing balm is sold all around the world. In Seoul, there are literally 3 stores on one block dedicated to the brand and mostly filled with piles of this pink jar in all sizes from baby to bonkers. Banila Co believes that you shouldn’t have to sacrifice your skin for your makeup, and their magical balm is the solution to removing EVERYTHING without clogging your pores, stinging or drying out your eyes/eye area, or otherwise messing up your going-to-bed-with-a-clean-face-after-slaying-all-daying game.

There are a few versions (Revitalizing, Purifying, Nurturing), but honestly the Cleansing Balm Original does all of those things and comes in the most satisfying pink container. Of all the things I bring back from my K-Beauty trips, this is the one I get asked for the most, for good reason. The feel of it on your skin is lovely, and the rinse off is so immaculate and non-greasy that it’s hard not to make it a staple. I don’t wear full makeup every day by any stretch, but I do get very dirty and sweaty sometimes, and I’m also known a couple times a year to do, like, clown level costume makeup. This is the only thing that works for both because it’s non-greasy enough for a regular day but extremely powerful to remove a full face with no tears of a clown.
