beauty in balance

Growing up Indian-American in Wisconsin was a challenge for Michelle Ranavat. She often found herself living a double life- one at school (the American side) and one life at home. Fast forward to grown up life and a trip back to India that brought her cultural roots and her busy life as a modern woman in America into focus. Taking in the elevated level of self-care in India, and women’s devotion to ritualistic daily practice, Michelle returned home with a fresh state of mind and a new inspiration: to create a beauty ritual that brought both sides into balance.

This buzzed-about line integrates Ayurvedic rituals into your everyday beauty routine with extremely pure ingredients and simple ceremonies. Ayurveda is sort of the mother of all wellness practices - a 5000 year old set of principles focused on bringing mind, body and consciousness into balance through preventative self-care.

RANAVAT believes that beautiful skin comes from consistency - and this is SO TRUE! We live in a time where we’re always trying new solutions and our skin really suffers for it. The Luminous Ceremony: Cream Cleanser ($42) is a perfect start to a new ritual of skincare … with manjistha root (a superfood) and the loveliest pure rose, this cleaner is a beautiful texture that deep cleans without stripping. Michelle recommends stepping out of that hot-ass shower you’ve been scalding away your troubles in … and at least giving your face a moment at the sink where you can massage in this dreamy stuff and control the water to a more lukewarm, healthy temperature. Doesn’t this already sound like a step in the right direction?

I also really love the Jasmine Tonique hydrating water ($40) - the jasmine is almost dirty smelling which to me is a sign of its purity. Naturally extracted jasmine does not smell “perfect” but is an amazing antioxidant hydrator.
